Snow Day!!

Last night our school called their first snow day of the year and this morning my husband called off work. As a stay at home mom, this means total schedule chaos LOL Needless to say I haven't got much done today, and it was actually kind of nice :) What do you do on a snow day? Unfortunately I really wanted to take the kids on their first sledding trip but our temperature has not gotten above 25 degrees. Too cold for our 19 month old and DEFINITELY to cold for this Mama. Instead the kids played, did a craft, and hubby and I caught up on a couple of our shows we were behind on. All this sitting around does have me ready for bed already though. Here are a couple photos:

Origami Owl Custom Jewelry Giveaway

A Giveaway Event Brought to you By

A Taste of Something Unimaginable

Welcome to the Owl Charm You giveaway event. For a while now Origami Owl has been making amazing necklaces that are built to tell a story. Completely personalized to describe your life. I had seen pictures of these necklaces floating around on Facebook, but I did not know just how many charms there are to choose from. It took me forever to go through all the charms because I just couldn't decide on one! There were so many cute charms that could have described something about me. Once you actually receive the necklace you open the adorable box and you actually put the necklace together yourself. I was worried about this at first but it is actually really easy and fun.

The independent designer who worked with us for this giveaway event was Leslie Rhoads, and you can purchase your own living locket from her website http://owlcharmyou.origamiowl.com!

Now on to the good stuff. One lucky winner will receive a gift card to make their own Origami Owl necklace! I know you all are as excited as I am about Origami Owl.
You can win it from the rafflecopter below.

PSA~Check Your Babies Toes

Here is my Public Service Announcement for the day. CHECK YOUR BABIES TOES!! Yes I know this sounds like I am completely psychotic but I am serious. Some of this information may be unpleasant to hear but definitely a necessity to know. Last year when my almost 19 month old was about 9 or 10 months old he  was very fussy for about 2 days. I assumed teething as the culprit because he had no symptoms of anything. It was about 6:30 in the evening and my hubby was about to put Hayden in the tub before bed time. As he pulled his foot out of his sleeper(our kids live in sleepers unless we have somewhere to go that day, benefits of staying home with mommy all day), Hayden started screaming uncontrollably. This was of course abnormal and as we are overlooking his body we noticed this:
(Photo compliments of Babycenter.com)

This ladies and gentlemen is a Hair Tourniquet. A Hair tourniquet is a medical condition where in a hair or other thread becomes tied around a toe or finger tightly, so as to put the digit at risk of damage. The problem usually arises in babies and small children when hairs and thread are lost loosely inside socks. They can become spontaneously tied round a toe and will tend to tighten with wriggling. Natural hair is much more likely to undergo this phenomenon than spun thread.

In the 14 years of being a mother, I had NEVER heard of such a thing or ever had it happen. Apparently it happens more often than is reported. Just as an FYI, this can also happen to little boy parts so check the diaper area too. Luckily for Hayden we caught it quick but unfortunately it required a trip to St Louis Children's Hospital, a shot of anesthetic, and a scalpel to remove the hair. Needless to say, I now wash my socks and sleepers inside out to prevent hair or threads from getting caught inside. I also check his toes, fingers, and boy parts during every diaper/clothing change.

My other reason for posting is that this morning as I was getting Hayden out of his crib he was favoring his foot and didn't want me to touch it. I brought him downstairs, sat him down, looked at his toes, and sure enough it happened again. However, this time it was an elastic type thread from his spider-man comforter(he went to bed in a 2 piece pajama set, no socks last night). This is a toddler bed set that I purchased at the store. After getting the thread off his toe, I pulled out his blanket and examined it for any loose threats, clipped them off right away.  Now I guess he has to wear properly checked sleepers to bed every night LOL

Happy Valentine's Day All

Yes I know its 9:10pm but it has been a CRAZY Valentine's day. Do you celebrate Valentine's Day? Do you buy something for your significant other? Card, flowers, dinner?

We typically do nothing but cards however I did leave a card and candy in hubby's car last night so he would find it when he left for work this morning. In return he brought home a huge flower arrangement :) We did pizza for dinner with the kids and earlier I baked a horrible looking cake LOL I guess I better stick to me "day job" because my cake decorating skills blow. Judge for yourself:

Hope you all had a GREAT V Day either way!

My Fork Walked Away

So its dinner time here at the Pierce house and I open the silverware drawer and find only 2 forks. We are a family of 6, we only eat in the kitchen, WHERE HAVE ALL THE FORKS GONE? LOL I swear they grow legs and walk away. Anyone else have this problem? I guess its time to search for a new set of silverware that I like(took me months to pick this pattern). Maybe I should pitch to Corelle? hehe

Okay enough of my little rant, off to finish dinner. Salsibury steaks, mashed potatoes, gravy, and cheesy veggie medley. YUMMY!
